Lyre bird singing in a story with morals for kids

Gather Around, Little Funtastics!

As we’re about to delve into a story with morals about a lyre bird which made a difference, a short story with morals that my kids love.

In the heart of the jungle…

In the heart of the jungle, where the trees stood tall and the rivers ran wild, there lived a humble bird known as the Lyre Bird. Unlike the strong bear, the agile monkey, or the swift cheetah, the Lyre Bird seemed to have no special powers. The other animals often laughed and teased the Lyre Bird for being so ordinary, but little did they know that that’s soon to change. So one sunny morning, everything changed, and the jungle faced a danger that was solved with the help of an interesting bird…

The Animals’ Boasts

One sunny day in the heart of the jungle, the animals were boasting about their unique powers. The bear roared about his unmatched strength, the monkey swung through the trees, showing off his agility and safety from predators, and the cheetah raced with incredible speed, leaving everyone in awe.

The jungle was filled with their loud, confident voices as they teased smaller animals and birds. When it was the Lyre Bird’s turn, they laughed and jeered, “Haha, you’re just a bird. You tweet nicely, but that’s all you do. Any other bird can do that. So ordinary.”

The Lyre Bird’s Moment

Feeling upset, the Lyre Bird flew to the river to calm down. There, an electric eel who had overheard everything offered comfort. “Don’t be sad, Lyre Bird. You are wonderful, and they will realize it someday. They were mean to me too. Maybe they deserve a little scare?”

The electric eel leapt from the water, sending a jolt of electricity to frighten the bragging animals. But in the colorful carpet of fallen autumn leaves, a spark ignited, and a fire began to spread.

“Oh no!” exclaimed the Lyre Bird as flames raced through the jungle. Then, the Lyre Bird remembered the firefighters’ siren and mimicked it, filling the air with the urgent sound. The animals, recognizing the siren, rushed to safety.

A Lesson Learned

As they huddled in the shelter, waiting for the firefighters to arrive, the animals realized it was the Lyre Bird’s mimicry that had alerted them to the danger. Grateful and humbled, they apologized to her. “We were wrong. You are as powerful as any of us. Everyone has a unique power and can help in times of danger.”

They also apologized to the electric eel, who, in turn, admitted that revenge wasn’t the answer. From that day on, the animals learned to be kinder to one another and to appreciate the unique talents each creature possessed.

The Moral of the Story

Remember, every creature, no matter how big or small, has a special gift that’s either waiting to be discovered or waiting to be used. Just as the Lyre Bird saved the jungle with its song, everyone has a special gift that can shine brightly when needed most.

It’s not about being the strongest, the fastest, or the most agile, but recognizing that each of us has a unique power that can shine in unexpected ways.

Be kind to everyone you meet, as you never know the important role they might play when the time comes. True strength lies in unity, understanding, and appreciating the diverse talents that make our world vibrant and safe.

Exercise Time!

Now, let’s do an exercise together and think about your own special talents. How can you use them to make your world better? Whether it’s helping a friend or a creature in need, creating something beautiful such as a song, a story, or a drawing, or simply spreading kindness, your unique abilities are incredibly important.

And even if you haven’t found your special power yet, don’t worry, there’s still time to find it and to use it for good.

Until the next story with morals, dear funtastic readers, don’t forget that together, we can achieve great things when we appreciate and support each other’s unique powers. Always be kind, be curious, and be ready to discover the amazing strengths within yourself and others.
